the siri series
a collection of four poems about finding home, leaving home and moving back again.
(siri, make a playlist)
(siri, play “bodies” by drowning pool)
(siri, play “i’m just a girl” by no doubt)siri, find a therapist near me
in movies, home is always the safe place
unless it’s the house in home alone.
so maybe not always,
but most of the time
you feel safe,
the world can’t hurt you.
home is where the heart is or something, yeah?
the mailbox is outside,
so the bills can stay out in the cold.
fuck your amex bill.
the spam mail can sit
for a day or two,
or three,
or a week,
unless i’m waiting on a package.
so i came home.
but this home doesn’t feel like the kind in movies.
this home sees me coming,
already sharpening its edges.
it doesn’t recognize my growth,
but it recognizes my face.
so it won’t let the growth in,
but it lets the person.
